Last week, our organization had the incredible opportunity to attend a 3-day conference hosted by the KGL Foundation after being awarded a grant to train young women in tech. Here’s a glimpse into my experience at the event.
We arrived at the conference venue, checked in, registered, and took some time to rest after our journey. It was a much-needed chance to recharge before diving into the upcoming activities.
The second day began with a warm welcome from Elliot Dadey, the CEO of the KGL Foundation. He gave us an overview of the foundation and its mission, setting the tone for the conference. We also learned about the strategic plan, priority areas, thematic areas, and implementation strategies of the KGL Foundation.
We had the opportunity to voice our expectations for the conference and engage in discussions with representatives from various organizations. It was inspiring to see the collaborative spirit among participants.
Hellen Amponsah Asare(ESQ) provided valuable insights into the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between our organizations and the KGL Foundation. We learned about our partnership’s legal aspects and the importance of clear communication.
A highlight of the day was the session on leveraging social media to showcase our organization’s work. Ms. Kenny Zigah shared practical tips on how to advertise and raise awareness about our initiatives effectively.
Each organization had the opportunity to present their activities and approaches. It was inspiring to hear about the impactful work being done by our fellow grant recipients.
We received comprehensive training on financial management, including confirmation of fund receipt, payment procedures, records retention, and misuse prevention. The emphasis on proper documentation and adherence to tax laws was particularly insightful.
Overall, the conference was a valuable learning experience. It provided us with the tools and knowledge needed to effectively manage our grant and make a positive impact in the tech industry. I’m grateful to the KGL Foundation for this opportunity and look forward to implementing what I’ve learned in our organization’s work.
