My Experience with Divaloper

I’m grateful to Abigail Dogbe Mesrenyame for introducing me to Zuliaha Dobia in 2019, where I had the chance to express my passion for STEM education and explore ways to advance the cause of women in STEM.

In four years, my role evolved within the organization, initially dedicating a year to serving as a digital marketer. In this capacity, I was responsible for curating and overseeing the dissemination of content across various social media channels, ensuring our online presence was both vibrant and engaging. As a programs manager in the following years, I transitioned to a more strategic position where I orchestrated a range of programs, overseeing their planning, execution, and evaluation to align with our organization’s objectives and mission.

Divaloper provides a platform for those passionate about empowering women and promoting women’s education in STEM, particularly in technology. It facilitates an easy transition into the tech sector.

On a personal note, Divaloper allowed me to excel and unleash all my hidden potential. I used to be shy, afraid of large gatherings and making mistakes. My life was quite solitary with minimal social interactions. I found a supportive community encouraging me to step out of my comfort zone. This exposure helped me overcome my fears and reservations, allowing me to connect with like-minded individuals. The platform not only enhanced my technical skills but also significantly improved my communication and social skills, making me more confident and active in community discussions and initiatives. Through Divaloper, I discovered a sense of belonging and purpose, contributing to causes I’m passionate about while growing personally and professionally.

During my time here, I successfully guided more than 60 women through the Divaloper Bootcamp in its 2022 iteration in Web Development and Digital Marketing. These inventive concepts led to the development of groundbreaking projects that not only enhanced our operational efficiency but also fostered a culture of innovation and creativity within the team. The collaborative atmosphere of the boot camp, coupled with these fresh ideas, has significantly contributed to our collective growth and success.

Looking ahead, I envision a dynamic team spearheading creative projects, significantly enhanced by women’s participation in technology. Beyond Web development using WordPress and Digital Marketing, our forthcoming strategy includes educating women in additional programming languages, including Python, HTML/CSS, and JavaScript. We plan to expand our curriculum to include professional courses in data science and Machine Learning, among other areas. This initiative aims to empower women, especially those from underprivileged areas in Ghana, with the skills needed to thrive in the technology job market.

My accomplishments can be largely attributed to our esteemed executive director, Miss Zuliaha Dobia, who has generously provided me with an incredible platform to showcase my talents. Together, we are committed to nurturing and elevating Divaloper to greater heights. Here’s to our collective journey towards excellence and innovation. Cheers to the bright future ahead!
